Domino's Story...
Domino was turned in to Nebraska IG Rescue as a stray. The family who turned him in noticed a dog barking a few mornings straight during the coldest weeks early of the 2006 winter. The neighbor saw this little IG the next day huddled under the dryer vent to keep warm. Domino hasn't had much socialization so he will need an IG experienced home and somebody patient to show him how to be a dog. He is working on his housetraining and get along with the other dogs well. Domino will not be adopted to a home who has children or one who is planning on having children. He needs to go to a very experienced IG home who understands that mill dogs are not regular pets. Mill dogs often have had little or no socialization, spent many years in a kennel, and are scared of people. Many mill dogs will take months to just be comfortable in a home, but will not ever be the type of dog to cuddle in your lap or will hide under tables or chairs to avoid socialization. This dog will need a lot of patience and time from the person who adopts him, and will only go to somebody who has experience with a mill dog previously. Domino is being fostered just outside of Lincoln, NE. Out-of-state adoptions will be considered if approved by your local representative. Domino is current on shots and fixed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Domino, a Lincoln Italian Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Italian Greyhound for sale in Lincoln, or seeking a Italian Greyhound dog from a breeder in Lincoln.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lincoln already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lincoln breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Italian Greyhound breeders who help with Italian Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lincoln paves the way for another one to be saved.
