Armani's first week in a foster home was a little rough as he adjusted to his new living situation. He would look out the window as if he was waiting for someone to come get him and did not want attention from anyone, humans or dogs. The second week he was a whole different dog. Armani is cuddling up every chance he gets and wants to sleep in bed under covers. He must have realized he is stuck here and decided to make the best of it. He is extremely sweet putting his head on my chest and laying as close to my head as he can on the couch. When he is placed in his future home he will have a bit of an adjustment period.
He is totally house trained and knows sit and come and will stand on his back legs and dance for treats. He loves going for walks and does great on a leash. He is quite the talker and barks to get your attention. He is a great eater and will paw at and play with his bowl to let you know he is hungry or thirsty. He lets me clean his ears and some teeth as long as I am gentle about it. Nail trims are a 2 person job, but he is getting better each time we do them.
His previous owner did not have any previous medical records, but did know Armani's birthday is June 16, 2004. Armani was turned into rescue because he had begun nipping the children in the family when teased. His foster home has a friend's 2 year old over occasionally and he is happy to see kids again and doesn't show any of the nipping the previous owner described. It will be best to put him in a home with older kids that know how to interact properly with him. He is outgoing and will go right up to new people for attention as long as they are not overbearing about it. He seems to like women and men equally.
Armani barks and whines when first kenneled, but stops as soon as you are out of eyesight. He is calmer when you toss a treat into the kennel and does best when he is kenneled with another dog. He will mess in his kennel and tear up blankets if kenneled alone. He is fine with the cats, sniffs them then generally ignores them.
He enjoys playing with dogs of all sizes and loves to race around the house being chased. Armani and his foster brother, a Dane mix, love running squirrel patrol in the backyard during the summer. They will race from tree to tree looking up in the branches for squirrels for hours. Since this guy is a sighthound, he will need to go to a home with a fenced yard as he will chase anything. This guy is being fostered in Lincoln, NE. We prefer that this boy go to a home with no children under 8 years old.
