Caprica, or Rica as she’s called, is remaining optimistic about finding her special forever home.
Her original owners regrettably had to give her up as she did not adjust well to the new baby in the home.
She is a sweet girl who's mature, and well behaved. She signals to go outside, loves soft/squeaky toys, and loves to be brushed! She was raised in a home with a cat and did well. She does not need to be crated when left alone and is absolutely perfect in the car. Now that the weather is cool, her foster owner lets her come with on errands which she gets very excited about!
She’s not an excessive barker but will alert to people approaching the house or yard. She is protective of her space, toys, and surroundings and therefore, would do best as an only dog in a quiet or mellow neighborhood. Her owners will need to be willing to work with her on properly greeting strangers that visit the house. Her foster owners have consulted a trainer on the best technique and have had some success.
The coonhound in her comes out when it’s time to chase squirrels! She trees them, bays, and bites at the bark in true hound fashion!
Because of her personal space issues, this is not a dog for a person who wishes to take a dog into crowded areas like festivals and fairs. She does ok walking around on paths though.
Her namesake is a planet in the Battlestar Galactica series and is named after the Zodiac sign of Capricorn. These dogs are deeply loyal and devoted which is exactly her personality. She bonds easily and strongly.
Please help us find this girl the furever home that she deserves!
