Winter's Story...
Winter is an 8 month old pointer mix, about 35 lbs, who came to rescue on his “kill” date, having been at a shelter in a cage for several months. We can’t figure out why this sweet and beautiful little boy was not adopted before this. He is very affectionate, he loves people and is very appreciative of attention and affection. He also loves other dogs, but does not do as well with cats. Winter would do best in a home with a big yard to run in and at least one other dog for company as he does not like to be alone. He is smart and eager to please. He is house trained and crate trained. He is very high energy, but he is not an escape artist and makes no attempt to leave the yard, even though he probably could jump the fence if he wanted to. He is neutered, heart worm negative, and has had all his shots.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Winter, a Houston Pointer/German Shorthaired Pointer puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pointer/German Shorthaired Pointer for sale in Houston, or seeking a Pointer/German Shorthaired Pointer puppy from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pointer/German Shorthaired Pointer breeders who help with Pointer/German Shorthaired Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
