Dixie's Story...
Dixie is a very sweet 7 month old black lab mix that weighs 31 lbs. Like all puppies she loves everyone and everything, especially kids. She has that typical puppy energy, but settles down for cuddly naps after romping around in the yard. Dixie found herself in a shelter after she was tied to a bench on a walking trail. Now she is in a great foster home where she is getting all the care and nurturing she deserves. She loves playing with all dogs, but has not been introduced to kitties yet. Cat testing can be done if needed. Dixie would make a wonderful addition to any active family. A family who would spend the time loving her, playing with her, teaching her basic obedience and showing her what a good life is all about. If you are interested in learning more about this really sweet and deserving girl, please feel free to text or call her foster mom, Alecia Clark, @ 901-486-2850. Once adopted she will travel to her new forever home via transport. Dixie's adoption fee of $460.00 includes her vaccinations, spay, microchip, current heartworm prevention and transport fee to her new forever home. All of our pets start their journey in Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted at which time they travel via transport to their new forever home. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our New England adoptions ( and The Road Home Pet Transport for our Midwest adopters.
Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Blues City is operated 100% by volunteers. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dixie, a Waterbury Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Waterbury, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Waterbury.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Waterbury already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Waterbury breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Waterbury paves the way for another one to be saved.
