Here's what the humans have to say about me:
COURTESY LISTING for SHELDON. This dog is not at Oregon Dachshund Rescue. For information please contact tyler1larson@gmail.com.
MEET SHELDON
A ten year old Dachshund Poodle mix who's current family finds themselves no longer able to care for him. You see, Sheldon (like his namesake on a popular TV show) has a few quirks and attitude issues. He has always had the usual Doxie behaviors, but in the past year, he has bitten four children. His family doesn't want to give him up, but Sheldon can no longer be around children...at all... Too many people or new things can make him very anxious. He's prone to anxiety, and can start shaking uncontrollably with little or no provocation. He typically wears a sweater to help control his anxiety. He is house broken, but will have accidents if he is anxious.
On the UP side, he is VERY loveable. Most of the time he is a warm companion who can be bouncy and playful. He's walked on a leash and settles in once he calms down. He enjoys playing with other dogs and typically plays nicely. He's a cuddler, and needs people around. If you know of a quiet, stable family with no children who would like a loving, playful companion, perhaps you could share Sheldon with them...or reach out yourself.
Please note that this is a Courtesy Listing for a doxie that is NOT at Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc, ODR-Inc cannot make any guarantees or claims about this doxie...we are just helping to network him and help them find his forever family. For information, please contact his current family directly at the phone numbers above.
ODR, INC. ADOPTION CRITERIA (aka Our Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues
Just a reminder that this is a COURTESY LISTING for SHELDON. This dog is not at Oregon Dachshund Rescue. For information please contact tyler1larson@gmail.com.
