Hello there, my name is Tess. I'm about a 50 pound hound dog and I’m at least 7 years old, but I may be a little older. Life has been rough up until now, but the great people at Safe Haven want to make sure that I have the best life possible from now on! It took a lot of work for them to get me ready to meet my new people. I had my teeth cleaned, I was spayed and treated for heartworm AND lymes disease! Then we found out that I had to have part of my jaw and a tooth removed! Now that I'm all better I can't wait to be whole again with a new family!
I was real scared when I got here. My foster mom helped me get through some of the things I was afraid to do, and I can do them all by myself now. If I come across something that isn't in my comfort zone I need to be praised and told I'm okay.
Since life before Safe Haven was so rough, I’ve developed arthritis and I have a very low energy level. I think that my new home would be a place that doesn’t have any small children and that is very low energy, just like me! I enjoy the occasional car ride, love short walks, laying in the sun, lots of petting and belly rubs, and food is a big thing to me. My arthritis is very common among dogs my age and my foster mom helps me to manage it with daily medication to make me feel better.
Overall, I’d really enjoy finding a family who is quiet and calm, who wants a companion dog (that’s ME!) and maybe someone who even has another calm senior dog for me to lay around with! Please don’t let my arthritis stop you from meeting me, I’ve been told I’m one awesome girl!
