Maple is a beautiful 4 1/2 year old Beveren who was surrendered because her family was in transition, and eventually moving to Texas. When Maple was very young, she was saved from being an Amish families dinner. She was more than just lucky! Her family took excellent care of her, getting her spayed, and never 'caging' her, allowing her to be free-roam. She grew very close to her family, and to the family dog, but they were worried that the six months of travel before ending up in another state would be entirely too much for her. Although she is very strong-willed, funny, and a knows-what-she-wants kind of rabbit, they were doing what they thought would be best for this girl. Since she had such a hard time adjusting to shelter-life and staying in a dog crate for 23+ hours every day, we thought it best to send her to a foster home where I'm told she is very content. She is not 'caged', interacts well with the foster's dog, and appears to be much happier away from the confinement and noises of the shelter. She sure is one you've got to meet to fully appreciate. If you are interested in meeting Maple, please complete the online application,, or contact Suzanne at 724.766.9399 - Please feel free to join us at the Animal Rescue League for our Hug-A-Bun Sundays. The are held on the last Sunday of each month (except December) from 2-4pm where we let out all the shelter rabbits in the multi-purpose room. This is a wonderful time for those who may be thinking about adopting a house rabbit. The rabbits are set up in large exercise pens so that they can run around and stretch as well as be socialized with other rabbit volunteers, previous adopters, fosters, and those who may be looking to adopt. JOIN US! Please Note: Maple will not be adopted as a pet for children. She deserves to be a family member, not treated like a toy. She may live for another 10 years or more, so be ready to commit to her for the rest of her life when placing an application.
