This darling little lady is Carmel, a 4 year old chihuahua that is hoping for a fresh start in life. Carmel came to us from our Newark facility after she was given up by her family who were moving and couldn't take her along. As you can imagine, Carmel was a bit distressed when she arrived. She was confused as to why she was taken from the only home she had ever known and brought to an unfamiliar place, and hurt that her family left her behind. She didn't trust anyone at first and kept to herself, and that's perfectly understandable. But with time, and lots of patience and extra attention from our staff, little Carmel began to realize that she was in a good place and among good people, and she began to let her guard down and make friends. She is now looking forward to starting life again with a family that will love her and never let her go. Carmel is still a little unsure of new people and needs time to get to know you. Once she knows you, she will love you and never want to leave your side. She is so well behaved, quiet and easy going, and just wants to be with you. Carmel doesn't seem to mind other well behaved dogs and would do best in a home with older children. She has so much love to give in such a little package, and will love you forever if you give her a chance. File#25986 2/1/16
