Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Murdock is a 4 year old Australian Shepherd, gorgeous with red and tan merle markings. He is quite energetic and very loving. However, Murdock had a bad start in life. His original owner trained him for protection.. He was encouraged to do things that dogs should not do. Since he has been with us, we have worked with him to make him content and to break the habits that he had learned. As you may know, un-learning something is very difficult and takes time.
Because of this, Murdock needs a home with no small children, dogs or cats. A fenced yard would be best, though he may do well with an invisible fence. He likes to play with toys and is trained to fetch, among many other things! He will play with his family and sometimes plays rough, which is why he would not be good with children. He is a VERY quick learner and responds to authoritative tones and words. That being said, he can be so gentle and sweet and will come snuggle!
Murdock walks very well on a leash, listens and obeys many commands, and is very protective of his family and friends. He would not go to the farmer’s market or the dog park, though going for a walk would be okay though he would likely be muzzled for safety. It is not Murdock’s fault that he was taught to be a “bad dog” when he was younger. Do you have the heart to help him be a good dog?
