My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To MEET Honey - fill out an application. You must fill out an application in order to meet Honey. Cut and paste this link into your web browser: www.welcomehomedogrescue.org/adoption/application-to-adopt-a-companion/

Weight: 14 pounds

Age: 5 months

Personality: Sweet, affectionate, playful, open to new adventures. Adopter will be very blessed to have this sweetheart as a furry family member. Honey would make an excellent candidate to be trained as a THERAPY DOG! Cockers are sensitive, intelligent dogs who need to live inside with the rest of the family, not outdoors!

Coat: Soft, silky. Adult Cockers typically don't shed much if at all, but they do need regular grooming and baths. Has puppy coat now, which will shed as the permanent coat grows.

Training: Walks well on leash, knows sit, down. Foster mom has socialized her well, so she has become used to going out and experiencing new things. This socialization will need to be continued, along with a formalized positive methods training class.

Potty trained: Yes

Health: Excellent health. Was underweight when first rescued because her brother was eating more of the food, but now Honey is doing well and growing nicely. She will be a small Cocker.

History: Rescued from a high kill shelter in S. Korea, along with her brother Casey. Cockers have a hard time getting adopted in Korea, since they have a hyper reputation. We brought both puppies to California to find their forever families.

Fostered in: Fullerton, CA (local applications only)

Type of home: Single person or family with children (but not infants). Cockers are active dogs who need regular exercise, in spite of their small size. Honey will need more socialization, to continue the good work of her foster mom. Adopter should have adequate time and energy for dog training class.

Crate trained: Yes

Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Kids: Yes (not suitable for infants under 3)
Good with Cats: Unknown, but Honey is young enough to be trained to be good around cats

Adoption fee (non-refundable): $300

All dogs are fully vetted, tested for heartworm, microchipped, and up to date with vaccinations.

Our adoption process looks like this:

1. Adoption application review by WHDR board
2. Adoption application approval
3. Meet and greet
4. Home safety check
5. Final approval and adoption finalized

Our volunteers, donors and adopters mean the world to us! Without you, we couldn't do what we do - saving the lives of abused, neglected and abandoned dogs and providing them with a loving forever home.
