Xena's Story...
Xena. Date of Birth: January 20, 2013 My kittens and I were all rescued by a nice lady from an apartment complex where we were allowed to run wild. People were feeding us, but they weren't caring for us. I tried my best to get my babies inside, but folks kept shooing us away. And finally someone took us in! Now we're settled securely in a foster home, waiting for someone to open their hearts and give us a permanent place to live. Though I've cared well for my kittens, truth is, I'm ready for them to leave the nest. I get along with other cats, but I think I'd be happier on my own. Now about me: I am extremely sweet and cuddly. I went through a lot when I was on the streets, but it didn't affect my purring personality. I like wet food, and cannot resist roasted chicken. Who can?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Xena, a Houston Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Houston, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
