My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Honey is a special case at Home Fur Good, and she needs a quiet environment with a patient family. She used to be a street dog, and is approximately 5 years old. For a couple of years, a good Samaritan would stop almost daily to provide food and water for her. She was eventually trapped and taken to the County Shelter, and then brought over to Home Fur Good.

Since February, staff and volunteers have been working to gain her trust and bring her out of her shell. Honey is not aggressive at all; she is all about flight when it comes to interaction. The hustle and bustle of the shelter is too much activity for her, and she is unable to get the consistent one-on-one time she requires. For now, if a permanent home cannot be found, we are looking for a foster home to help her learn that people are here to help and are fun to interact with. She needs to learn the joy of playing, and that she does not need to always rely on her survival instincts. Honey needs to know she can relax and sunbathe or play with a squeaky toy. Putting in the time and effort to make Honey a family dog can be a rewarding bonding experience.
