Here's what the humans have to say about me:
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. Puppies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter.
Emma, at just 5 months old and 12.6 lbs (she is estimated to be full grown at about 16 - 18 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever really began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Emma just in time.
Emma is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Emma is also incredibly beautiful with the purest of white and the shiniest of black in her coat with a striking caramel and white mask. Emma's beautiful coat colors will have come out after she receives a sudsy bath following her release from the shelter. We'll post a photo of the clean and gorgeous Emma just as soon as we get one.
Emma is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also very smart...very typical of Spaniel mixes. She's bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Emma is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. Emma has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.
We're open to Emma finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a sweet and cuddly puppy. Emma loves children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen.
Emma will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/8/16. If interested in this cuddly and very fun and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
