My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gemma:
Gemma is the outgoing one of the three sisters. Maybe it's because she's from Canada, or maybe it's because she's the youngest :). Gemma is affectionate and active. She loves to go for walks and collect all the scents she can! She was born 8/5/11 and was shipped to the US to be used for hunting. The next 4.5 years of her life would be that of a chained dog, only let off occasionally to go hunting. Eventually, her owner stopped hunting and she was just a lonely, chained dog. When she was rescued she was very thin and was having a hard time handling the grueling below-freezing temperatures. She was rescued along with her sisters Ruby and Gemma, and has not been cold or hungry since! Gemma needs an active family or person to love her. She is very affectionate and loves attention. "Thanks" to the way she was treated as a hunting dog, she cannot go to a home with cats or small dogs. She is good with calm, laid-back medium to large dogs. She is a little too active for small children, but would love to have a teenager of her own! We know this is a lot of restrictions on homes for this beautiful girl, but we know her perfect match is out there. She really is a great dog and her foster family adores her. Gemma's last weight was 50.1lbs.
