My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Toffee is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning brindle streaks that run through her coat. Toffee also has the cutest scruffy Terrier face...you just want to hug this little cutie-pie close. Once she gets a sudsy bath and a thorough brushing...Toffee will be one of the most adorable girls around. At just 6 - 8 months old and 6 lbs (anticipated to be about 8 lbs when full grown), Toffee is a perfect weight to accompany her family just about anywhere a sweet small dog is welcome... while being large enough to enjoy walks with her family.

Toffee is every bit the young pup...fun and active. But at the same time she is a happy and well-behaved pup (once she's used to her environment) who has not been unnecessarily vocal. At this early point in Toffee's development, she loves everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Toffee to a family who expresses their devotion for her in many different ways. We'd like Toffee to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best adult dog she's capable of being. We also feel Toffee would be most comfortable with an adult family or a family with older kids who are sensitive to Toffee's small size.

Right now, Toffee is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly dog around. Toffee is so loyal that she can easily be a constant companion - she would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (she's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Toffee is young and flexible enough that she can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...she can succeed.

Toffee's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young dog. She requires behavioral guidance and tons of love to give her a positive attitude about the world. Toffee will be fully vetted but won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Toffee's microchip and spay at our Denver vet to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth.

Toffee appears to be a non-shedding pup (or perhaps lightly shedding..difficult to tell until her healthy, post-shelter coat grows in) with the beautiful and scruffy Terrier hair that speaks of her breeds. She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep her coat healthy and gorgeous.

Toffee is arriving on transport in Denver on Friday 4/8/16. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
