Hedda was found at seven months old on a country road in Culpeper.  She was severely emaciated and her foster parents pulled her from the country shelter just in the nick of time.  It was her day to be euthanized.

Hedda has since gained weight, but she is small of stature and will probably always have that cute puppy dog face.

Hedda is a friendly young dog who loves to play with other dogs and her foster parents . This sweet girl  also likes to snuggle up to her humans. Hedda just wants to be loved.

She is very smart and willing to please and knows her basic commands like sit, stay and wait which did not take her long at all to learn.

Hedda's favorite toy right now is a Kong stuffed with treats.  She loves to run around with it in her mouth and bounces it around all happy wiggles and smiles.

Hedda gets along well with cats and dogs and is great with children.

Hedda loves nothing more than someone throwing a ball for her, she will retrieve it and bring it back to you.

Hedda would love to have a canine friend in her forever family, another dog to play and run around with.

Hedda is crate trained and housebroken but prefers to be right beside you, your constant companion through life's adventures.

This adorable little dog has had a rough start in life and would love to be part of her own family.

Please request a visit with Hedda soon.

About Bobbie's Pit Bull Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Bobbie's Pit Bull Rescue and Sanctuary is a registered non-profit, all volunteer organization working to rescue, protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned and homeless Pit Bull Type Dogs, to rehabilitate and finally find suitable homes so they can live long and happy lives. Our rescue is funded by donations only.

Our goal is to bring awareness to the public through targeted education and community outreach activities in the VA, DC and MD areas and act as a resource to our community. We are promoting responsible pet ownership and are offering help to low income families or homeless individuals by providing assistance with medical care, spay and neuter, vaccination/preventatives and housing and nutrition.

Our Adoption Process...

BRPS Adoption Requirements

We ask that you please read the below in its entirety.

Minimum requirements for adopting from Bobbie’s Pit Bull Rescue & Sanctuary are:

Demonstrated responsible dog ownership, and primary care of a dog to include spay/neuter of current family pets. Also, all pets must be up to date on vaccinations and (dogs) heartworm tested and on preventative.

Demonstrated financial stability and must be at least 21 years of age.

Proof of home owners insurance that covers the bully breed. If you rent, we require a letter from your landlord giving you permission to keep a bully breed on the premises and you must have Renter's Insurance that covers the breed. Please note that many insurance companies will cancel your homeowner’s policy if you own a bully breed. It is the adopter's responsibility to check with his or her carrier to ensure coverage will remain in place.

While we do not require a fenced yard we strongly prefer yards that are fenced in by chain link, wrought iron or privacy fencing. Homes with no fences will be evaluated to make sure that the dog has enough opportunities during the day to exercise. Invisible fencing is not acceptable.

Adoption Policy

We are happy to hear from people interested in giving one of our wonderful dogs a responsible, lifelong home. Bully breeds become deeply attached and devoted to their families. Our animals are adopted as inside family pets only. If you feel you may not truly enjoy having a dog's constant companionship, enjoy having him/her sleep in your bedroom at night and share your activities by day, then you may be happier with a breed less oriented to human companionship.

Much like toddlers, puppies cannot go all day long in a crate and need to be let out often to receive physical exercise and mental stimulation. So as a general rule, preference is given to homes where they will have multiple breaks during the day. Homes where puppies are crated 6+ hours Monday thru Friday without breaks are not acceptable.

Puppies 0-12 months are required to attend Daycare at least once a week for socialization purposes, no exceptions.

Every dog must be enrolled in Obedience Training courses within 30 days after final adoption, no exceptions.

No out of State adoptions except of MD and DC. However, exceptions can apply under special circumstances.

The adopter must agree to stay in close contact with BPRS for the next 180 days after adoption to make sure that the adopted dog is adjusting well. This includes additional home visits if we deem necessary to help with adjustment issues. We want to make sure that the adoption is a success for both, adopter and dog. BPRS is there with you all the way.

Our adoption fees are:

· $150 for dogs directly out of a shelter

· $200 for dogs 6 months and older

· $350 for puppies 0 months to 6 months

· $150 for senior (age of 7 and up) or special needs dogs, but may have a reduced or waved adoption fee based on special circumstances.

We are a Not for Profit organization. Every cent of the adoption fee literally goes to help the dogs, the majority goes towards medical expenses. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated and on heartworm/flea and tick preventatives: no exceptions.

If you are unable to keep your adopted dog for any reason he/she MUST be returned to BPRS.

A ll applicants are required to submit an online application to be considered for one of our animals.

All information is kept strictly confidential.
