Facts about Pickles

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Tiger Striped
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Pickles is an amazing, independent and gorgeous cat! He is eight years old, but you would never know it! He honestly has the energy and spunk of a 2 year old cat! He was taken in as a stray at six years old by one of the volunteers at CARE where he was brought to our local vet and diagnosed with a horrendous autoimmune disease called Pemphigus. During his time with us at the shelter the stress of being in that environment amoungst many other animals caused him to relapse continuously and cause his disease to worsen his skin time and time again. Pickles is at his best when he can be out in a home free to roam and live happily, which is why he is currently residing at our local vet hospital doing incredibly well. We are proud to say he has not relapsed in over two years! What he has is not contagious to any other animals or people and he is on chronic medication but is extremely easy to medicate and his medication is covered for his lifetime by our shelter. That being said Pickles is a very dominant cat and handsome young guy, who does very well with passive female cats but he likes to be the boss. So with other male cats or any dominant animals he can be fresh! Otherwise Pickles is an all around awesome cat and very loving. He loves his treats and drinking from the sink, as well as taking strolls outside. Normally we do not support outdoor cats, but in the right area Pickles does very well and comes back immediately when called its crazy, you just whistle and he comes running with excitement to see you. We would love to see Pickles in a long term foster or new home where he can spread his love to someone who loves him back. Although he is immensely loved by the veterinary staff, this is not an ideal home where Pickles should be living since the cats living there now do not exactly love him as much as the staff does! If you are interested in meeting Pickles please call or email us at any time he is waiting to meet you!
