Chico's Story...
Hi, my name is Chico and I am a 10 year old male Chihuahua. I recently arrived at the shelter after being owner surrendered when my people could no longer care for me.

I am a friendly little guy. I love attention from the volunteers at the shelter and I get along with other dogs, both old and young.

I'm looking for that special person that would like to give a senior boy like me a furrever home. Could that be with you?

Chico resides at a rescue organization in Arkansas. Please contact Gail Ross at 870-431-8229, or via email at to discuss this dog. You can find our adoption application by going to and clicking on the Adoption Application tab. The application, when completed and submitted, will be electronically sent to Gail’s email address.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chico, a Oakland Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Oakland, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Oakland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oakland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oakland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oakland paves the way for another one to be saved.
