This sweet Siberian Husky is Arya - she has a coat color of black and white with blue eyes.  She is a young pup, a little over a year old.  Arya is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has been microchipped. She walks fairly well on leash, but does need some additional command training.
Arya has a funny way of sitting - she likes to stick out her left hind leg.  There is a good reason for this, as she had suffered a broken leg when she was younger.  A good Samaritan heard about Arya and rescued her from her former owners, who were unable to take care of her after the needed surgery.

We were contacted by Harley's Hope Foundation who had paid for the initial expenses (bandage changes & x-rays) for her hind leg, and they had placed Arya in a great foster home.  Fortunately, North Star was able to cover the remaining expenses (more x-rays and physical therapy).

After several months of allowing the leg to heal (with very little activity), and then going through physical therapy - she has been released by her orthopedic Doctor and is now ready to find her forever home!

She does great now running around the back yard with the other Husky in the foster home.  She is playful and has tons of energy at this young age.  We will be looking to place Arya in a new home that currently has a dog (preferably a male) with her same zest for life and approximately her same size.

Arya has not been around very young children, so we are unsure how she would do.  She is excitable and it is possible that she could knock a young toddler down.  For this reason we will be looking at possible adopters that have older children in the home.

If you have a fenced yard, with at least a 6' tall privacy fence that is secure - and you are interested in adding Arya to your home - please go to our web site, register, and then complete the adoption application for her.  This is the first step in our adoption process and must be received by us before we can discuss Arya with you.

About North Star Siberian Husky Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

North Star Siberian Husky Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded by volunteers in the State of Colorado for the purpose of assisting Siberian Huskies and their owners.

We provide education, accept unwanted Siberian Huskies from local shelters, take owner surrenders in and place them into new homes, provide behavioral evaluation and training in our foster homes.

We are an all-volunteer based rescue and do not receive any compensation for our time. We operate and rely solely on donations that we receive from the general public.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our Siberian Huskies that are available for adoption are in private foster homes. We do not have a building like a shelter where you can come and meet the dogs.

When it is time for you to meet a Husky - we will set up an appointment time and find a location where you, a North Star volunteer, and the foster parent can all meet.

Our Adoption Process...

1) It is our policy that you complete the online adoption application that is on our web site before you will be able to meet any of the Huskies. This gives us an initial idea of your knowledge of the breed - which is highly recommended.

2) After completing the adoption application, it will be reviewed by a North Star volunteer, and then you will be contacted to discuss more about your application.

3) Sometimes it is necessary for us to do a home visit with you. Our Huskies come from various backgrounds and we want to make sure that they will have a safe and secure forever home.

4) Once your application has been approved for adoption, we can start working with you on what Husky would be a good match for you. Please keep in mind that it is very easy to fall in love with a picture and you may think that particular dog is the one for you - but don't get your hopes up, as it generally does not happen that way...
