My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Liam's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal New Mexico shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Liam tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Schnauzer (with a bit of Poodle in the mix) is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Liam became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future.

At just 9 - 12 months old and approximately 14 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Liam to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it.

Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Liam and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success!

Liam gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching..Schnauzers with his coloring and markings are unusual and rarely found in shelters. Liam is really just an adorable and fun scruffy guy that's irresistible!

When Liam turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Liam's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any scary times behind.

Farfel's Rescue is searching for either active retirees or a younger family that has the time and schedule for a fuzzy best friend. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this guy as he would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. Liam also enjoys children..we would prefer older dog-loving kids that can be a part of a positive training regimen. Once bonded, Liam will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Liam would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates.

Liam is an extremely beautiful dog..he just had his first grooming and he looks amazing. We are waiting for new photos of Liam at his New Mexico foster home. He's so grateful being out of the shelter that there's almost a smile on his beautiful face. Liam is a very happy go lucky guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life.

Liam's foster mom is very happy to report that he is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Liam will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life.

We've requested that Liam be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this impoverished area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Liam's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.

Liam will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/9/16. Applications are being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly lap-dog and best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
