Meet our Hazelnut! Hazelnut was an owner release to the rescue: she had been a stray at the family's dad's work, and they took her in for a bit but they decided they did not have the time for her. She is 1–2 years old, on the small side at around 40 lbs, and has beautiful short, brindle brown/gray fur. Hazelnut is a pit bull type dog, probably American Pit Bull Terrier. Hazelnut loves to be the center of attention and would like to be the baby of the household.

She has a great temperament, and is calm, quiet, and sweet. She is great with both adults and children. She is quiet in the crate and rides well in the car. She is a good running buddy and loves to keep you company. Hazel has been good with the other medium and large dogs. She has small animal aggression/prey drive so does not do well with small dogs and cats, unfortunately (so therefore could not go to an off-leash dog park). She has a very loving, cuddly personality, and you can tell she just wants to find her person would do anything for them. Hazelnut would do great with a single owner or a family, and should get a chance to exercise, some obedience training, and most importantly, lots of attention and love. An owner with a flexible schedule or who can have Hazel curl up under their office desk would be ideal.

Hazelnut's adoption fee is $350 and includes her spay, up-to-date basic vaccines, up-to-date rabies vaccine, dewormer, and microchip. Even though the rescue is based in Eastern Washington, she is in a foster home near Seattle, and she can be transported to an approved adopter. About Red Waggin' Rescue - Kirkland Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

Red Waggin' Pet Rescue is a 501(c)3 that grew out of Connell Pet Rescue. We are a small group of dedicated volunteers that do this part-time and unpaid.

The City of Connell is located in Eastern Washington, and since it is a small city, it has no animal control, no proper animal shelter, and no pet rescue services. Red Waggin' Rescue is fully staffed by part-time volunteers to help the City of Connell Police Department rescue, provide vet care for, and find new forever homes for homeless dogs and other animals from Connell, WA and the surrounding areas. Our volunteers and foster homes are active in both Eastern Washington and the Puget Sound areas.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Although there is a small holding area managed by the City of Connell Police Department, Red Waggin' Rescue/Connell Pet Rescue has no permanent shelter facility.

Our animals stay in foster homes while they await their new homes, that are found in Eastern Washington and all the way to the Puget Sound area.

Generally, if an approved adopter is interested in another part of Washington State, transport can be arranged and runs roughly every other weekend.

Our Adoption Process...

Email Connellpetrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application form.

If you are interested to make one of our animals your new family member, please email connellpetrescue@gmail.com for an application form, which you may fill out and email back to us.

Please allow a few days for a response, as we are only part-time volunteers. We require a completed application in order to meet a pet.

Once approved, if you meet a pet and all agree it is a good match: a volunteer will do a home visit, you will sign an adoption contract, pay the adoption fee, and begin the approval period. Generally, adoption fees are $250–$350 for dogs and $50–$150 for cats, and include spaying/neutering, basic vaccines, and microchipping, all required by our rescue.

All of our adoptions include a 7-day money-back approval period. After 7 days, a pet must still be returned to our rescue but adoption fees are not refunded.
