My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BUDDY is a 9 year old neutered yellow male Lab who weighs 155 pounds and needs to lose 30. Buddy is a very handsome and friendly boy. He is house trained and does fine with free reign of the house. He loves to go for walks and is a very social boy. Buddy knows the commands: sit, stay, shake and lay down. He likes to play ball but doesn't always bring it back to you. Buddy also likes to swim. He is good with other dogs and used to live with one. Buddy is also good with cats. He used to ignore the cat that he previously lived with. From evaluator: Buddy is the typical big, goofy Lab. He was very friendly with me and enjoyed meeting my male Lab. Buddy is an owner give up due to divorce and moving. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update:: Buddy had a recheck and he has lost 13 pounds. He enjoys going for short walks and is coming along nicely.

Update:: He is looking a little slimmer and he is definitely more agile. He has started running and playing with the ball. He is also showing interest in other dogs. His demeanor is a much happier one. He knows several commands including 'wait' and 'stay.'

Update:: Buddy has settled nicely in his foster home. He is the ultimate gentle giant and a real lovebug. He is so easy going that his 20 lb canine foster brother runs circles around him and he is not at all phased by it. Buddy is very calm around his smaller companion. Buddy has done well with visitors coming to the house, and is a quiet boy. Buddy knows a few commands, like sit, wait, lay down, shake and no. But, he also seems to understand a lot and generally does what we ask him to (ex: when told to get down from the sofa; when told to come; when told to back up; when told to go outside). Buddy has difficulty standing from a sitting or laying position, but is improving with his joint medications. Carefully, he will go up and down 3 steps from the deck onto the yard, but he will not go up a big flight of stairs (i.e., to the second level or to the basement). Buddy LOVES to go out for a walk and gets really excited when he sees the leash. He starts hopping on his front legs, it's so cute to watch. He walks pretty well on the leash, but will walk best with an Easy Walk harness since he is very large and strong. He is house trained and loves to sleep on the couch and also sleeps through the night. He is a complete velcro lab and loves being with his humans. Buddy is going to be so much happier when he drops the weight - which should be easy since he loves to walk so much!
