Sylvia's Info...

I am already spayed, housetrained, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, not good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Sylvia's Story...
Sylvia is a beautiful 2-3 year old Lab Mix that came to us recently after being rescued from a terrible hoarding situation where she lived in a house with over 60 other animals.
Since Sylvia has never had the opportunity to meet any human friends until now, this calm, well behaved girl likes to take her time meeting new friends, and needs a calm, adult home with patient humans, and a well adjusted, friendly dog..who will show her the ropes, and continue her socialization, yet make sure that she is safe and secure at all times.
Once she is comfortable, she will warm up, and readily give her love and affection to those she knows and trusts-and has been seen recently giving hugs to her favorites! .
She seems to blossom in the company of her circle ...both canine and human..making her the "follower" type of the group...yet in some ways is somewhat independent, watching and taking it all in.
Please come down to the shelter and meet Sweet Sylvia, and see if you can be added to her growing list of favorite friends!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sylvia, a Oakland Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Oakland, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Oakland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oakland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oakland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oakland paves the way for another one to be saved.
