O'Malley's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, a special needs pet, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, not good with dogs, and not good with cats.

O'Malley's Story...
O'Malley is a male Pit Bulldog mix, black and white in color, found as a stray. He is a very high energy fun loving boy, best in a no other dog home and with someone familiar with the breed. He weighs 71 pounds. He is a WATER LOVING HOG!! Jumps right into the water spray and tries to eat it! He is adoptable now to an approved rescue only. He also loves squeaky toys. We have been working on leash training as well. He is food aggressive with strangers and will snap at you if you try to reach for his food bowl. His adoption fee is ZERO as he is fully vetted now AND FULLY SPONSORED. He is heartworm positive so his rescue would need to follow up with their own vet about his treatment. We are starting a slow kill heartworm method on him in the shelter.

A dog found as a stray wearing a collar is held for 5 days before it is put up for adoption or rescue. Our shelter is a first come first adopt/rescue facility. There are no holds placed on dogs for potential adopters/rescue, however if a party is interested in a particular dog before it becomes available they may send an inquiry to susan.ragsdale@lewisburgtn.gov and those inquiries will be kept track of in order of received once dog becomes available. Adopters/rescues will be notified what order they are in in regards to each dog. They are available at 8am on the day they are available. Non vetted dogs will have an appointment scheduled and will be available for pickup for adoption the day after their surgery. Approved rescues may pull a dog and have vetted at their own expense once available to the public.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

O'Malley, a Lewisburg Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Lewisburg, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Lewisburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lewisburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lewisburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lewisburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
