My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nikki is a white/tan Havanese/Maltese who is about 6 years old and weighs 17 lbs. She came into the shelter so severely matted that she had to be shaved down almost to the skin. When she came to us she had a couple of abcesses/masses. They are benign and she is all healed. She is a little scared of new people.
Nikki has some separation anxiety and can be vocal about it and she can be territorial with other dogs. She is also resource guarding her food a little. All perfectly natural until she learns to trust again. Nikki needs help in walking on a leash as she is very reactive when she sees other dogs and will pull and lunge at them. She is a feisty little firecracker which is part of her charm as she is so spunky but she does need a firm hand and a person who will enforce rules. We think she would do best as the only dog in the household and we do not recommend her to live with cats. She needs training but this girl is smart and she will learn quickly. She sleeps through the night in her crate. Nikki needs a dog savvy person who can show her how to be a good dog and feel secure. Are you the right person for Nikki?
