My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Alvin and my foster Mom says I'm one of the most endearing dogs she has ever met. I'm about 2 years old, athletic and strong, but I have learned to walk on a leash quite nicely since my foster Dad switched me to a head collar. I love to play with the other dogs here and with my toys, but my favorite thing to do is hunt lizards. They tell me I have a high prey drive and I guess I do - I even try to catch birds when they fly overhead. So I am not suited to a home with cats or other small creatures. When I'm not playing I settle down very nicely and I just want to be near my humans, especially when they give me some attention and love on me. I'm comfortable in my crate and can be left several hours with no problems. That's where I sleep at night as well. I can't wait to find my forever home and am looking for an active family with lots of love to give. As much as I enjoy the other dogs here, I would be quite ok as an only dog as long as I get the love and attention from my humans. I like kids but very small children might find me a bit overwhelming. I'm kind of clumsy at times and my long tail is always wagging! So far no one has been able to convince me that swimming is a good idea, but I love to play tug-of-war, chew on toys and chase things! I'm very curious so my foster family hasn't left me alone uncrated, just to be on the safe side. I'm pretty tall and can counter surf also. My best trick is sitting and staying for peanut butter. In fact all you have to do is say those words and I run to the spot and sit waiting for that magic stuff! I'm a big sweet goofball and will make the right family or person a terrific companion.
