Jeremiah's Story...
Jeremiah was left in the night kennel at the shelter without a note. So, we don't know what his life was like prior to his arrival but we're guessing it was not so great. This pooch is so skinny and we've been working to get his weight back up to a normal range. This dear boy is still adjusting to his new surroundings but he was very pleased to go out for his first walk with a volunteer. The first challenge though was getting the collar over his head. He retreated to the other end of the kennel, clearly not comfortable with this action. Someone has been unkind to this boy and it may take a while for him to be casual about being leashed up.

That said, when we did finally get him out for a walk he was interested in his surroundings and eager to explore. Over in the dog run he even chased a few balls which was a pleasure to see. It's nice to know that his negative past doesn't keep him from enjoying some doggie pleasures! He even came over for some snuggling and was happy to have his gorgeous ears scratched. Jeremiah appears to have a friendly interest in other dogs too. We'll know more soon and we are confident that Jeremiah's outlook will improve as he adjusts to this new situation and gains some weight. This doggie could really use a loving home to show him the better side of life!

Act quickly to adopt Jeremiah. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jeremiah, a Berkeley German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Berkeley, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Berkeley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berkeley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berkeley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berkeley paves the way for another one to be saved.
