My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BLACKIE is a 7 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 66 pounds. Blackie is a nice boy! He's good with other dogs. Blackie's not good with cats, because he will chase them. Blackie was an owner surrender to the shelter, because his owner moved in with her boyfriend whose landlord said no dogs were allowed. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update: Blackie #2 is spending the holiday weekend with a temporary foster mom. He's doing well with his foster sisters and townhouse living this weekend, so this sweet boy is approved for townhouse living. He has been the perfect house guest. He does his business outside, gets along with everyone & everything he has met and slept through the night. (He does snore, so maybe that is his weakness.) He walked a couple miles this morning around the lake with neighbors & their dogs and he had a great time .

Update:: Blackie #2 is such an easy 7 year old dog. He is completely house trained. He walks well on a leash and gets along with other dogs. He enjoys a good petting of his shiny black coat. Blackie enjoys chilling in the house and likes being near people.

Update:: Blackie is doing so well at sitting & is so much calmer getting a treat. He has been had free run of the house while his foster mom went work and he did great! He happily chases the balls. He has darling puppy energy. He loves belly scratches & doesn't mind if you grab his feet & they are hard to resist because they are so big! He's an excellent snuggler & his foster describes him as easy on a leash when we walk. He loves all the attention - but also loves to sleep next to the resident lab. The resident lab is 8 & sometimes isn't interested in rolling around - Blackie backs off quickly when given the cue & is learning some good dog/dog manners. He seems to learn quickly - his sitting & treat taking are 100% better than when he got here last week - just wants to please. Watch him here: https://youtu.be/jpz8w_JXXuE. Blackie needs training and needs to learn not to jump when he gets excited. He loves to be pet and hugged so he's figuring out if he doesn't jump he gets pets. He is such a happy, curious, and loving boy!! Since Blackie has not had much training, he is not approved for first time adopters.

Update: I am listed as Blackie #2 but my foster Mom calls me Black Jack. I like that name because it means that I was lucky that I came to Lab Rescue. I am about 7 years old, weigh 66lbs and am a smaller lab mix, and I am a little shy at first. I am house trained and am very good in the crate even though I would prefer to be loose in the house. My foster Mom says I am an easy dog that is well behaved. I don’t really know any commands but I am starting to learn sit. I get along with other dogs but I do like to chase cats so for your cats sake if you have one I am probably not the dog for you! I walk pretty well on the leash and have not needed a harness. I promise I will always greet you with my tail wagging.
