Rosie's Story...
We took Rosie a year ago as an owner surrender from an older couple, who could not handle her. They had her since puppyhood and absolutely adored her, but their personal situation was too volatile and it was creating a lot of anxiety in Rosie that was leading to her making bad decisions, out of fear. They, unfortunately, did not socialize her at all, so the first two years of her life were spent in her house and yard, and nowhere else. This made the world a really scary place for Rosie.

Once she was out of this situation and in training with her foster mama, she blossomed. She is a one person kinda gal, who will always gravitate towards her "human," but will snuggle with anyone who will allow it :) She is wonderful with children and has proven to be a great companion for her foster moms grandkids. She can be excitable when seeing new people, dogs or cats, but will focus back on you when you ask her too.

Her ideal owner is someone who can offer her the firm, gentle, guidance that she needs. She will try to push boundaries, but respects them when she is told not too. Her anxiety creeps in when she is given too much freedom. She wants someone to rely on and to show her the way. She needs an owner who can show her love other ways besides babying her. She likes cool, calm and collected ;)

She is a two and a half year old, medium energy dog who loves to go for walks or a quick hike, but is also happy to hunker down on the couch with you.

She is good with dogs and could live with one of a similar energy level, but will probably never be a playmate or a dog park dog. She likes to calmly hang out with dogs, not riot with them ;) She is good with cats and chickens (with supervision, of course) as well.

She is crated and house trained, as well as knowing some really useful, day to day life commands.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rosie, a Acushnet Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Acushnet, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Acushnet.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Acushnet already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Acushnet breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Acushnet paves the way for another one to be saved.
