Serena's Story...
Nice to meet you, my name is Serena, I am an adult female Akita who has found herself in rescue after being sold at a puppy mill auction. Yes, you heard right. My owner bred me for years, sold all of my pups and when he was done with me brought me to auction (just like a piece of furniture) and sold me to the highest bidder. I was not valued as a companion or family member, I was only a commodity. That has changed and I am now looking to become your best friend! I can walk on leash, I am housebroken, and I love people. I would love nothing more than to have a place to call home.

If you're interested in me, please fill out an adoption application at:

www.bigeastakitarescue.net and ask for me Serena :)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Serena, a Toms River Akita dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Akita for sale in Toms River, or seeking a Akita dog from a breeder in Toms River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Toms River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Toms River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Akita breeders who help with Akita rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Toms River paves the way for another one to be saved.
