My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Adelle" is a 2-yo, approx 75-lb spayed female GSD who is as mellow and affectionate as she is pretty. Adelle is friendly with strangers and loves to be handled. She does great with young children; while in a foster home, she let a 4-yo girl put her hand in her mouth and play with her ears, then rolled over on her back for a belly-rub! Adelle also has an exceptionally soft coat for a GSD.

Adelle is tolerant of other dogs, but really prefers the company of people--and being the only dog in the household. While in her foster home (where she went right after GSRSV rescued her), Adelle got into some snippets with the foster caretakers' other dogs when the foster caretakers were giving her attention and their other dogs approached her.

GSRSV took Adelle to its rescue ranch, and she has done very well. Though Adelle has not gotten into any fights here, she has growled at other dogs when I'm petting her and they approach her; however, this behavior has become less and less common so she's clearly learning how to share. I think that Adelle will do fine at dog parks and encountering strange dogs on walks, but it would be best if she was adopted into a home where she is the only dog.

Adelle might be OK with cats, as she showed only mild interest in the cat in her former foster home, and she really is quite mellow. I will consider a home with dog-savvy cats for Adelle.

Adelle is housetrained and perfectly behaved inside. I imagine that she would be fine left for several hours inside a house. Adelle has no apparent food-aggression and takes treats gently.

GSRSV rescued Adelle from the Stanislaus County Shelter in Modesto on 3-14-16 where she had been brought as a stray on 2-27-16. Adelle's adoption fee is $275, which includes a microchip.
