Mocha's Story...
Mocha is an Australian Shepherd with striking red merle markings. His tail is NOT docked, and he weighs about 65 pounds. He is still a puppy at eleven months of age. Aussies are very bright, and Mocha is no exception. He was raised on a McLean County farm, so hasn't had much 'formal' training. We are working on basic obedience, including walking on a leash. He doesn't potty where he sleeps in at night, and seems to be very clean. He loves to wrestle with other dogs and has not bothered the cat that is being fostered in the same home. He would be a good addition to a home with an active lifestyle. He is available for adoption now, and will be able to go to his new home after 6/5/09. He will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and on heartworm and flea preventatives. (The adoption fee for this pet is $200.00). Posted 5/29/09.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mocha, a Bloomington Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Bloomington, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Bloomington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bloomington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bloomington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bloomington paves the way for another one to be saved.
