My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MIDNITE is a 4 year old spayed black female Lab who weighs 50 pounds. She is a sweet 4 year old, 50 pound, black female that was a stray to an area shelter. She is a little unsure of what is going on around her so she is a little reserved around people. She doesn't run away from you but doesn't approach you either. Once she is comfortable with you, she will allow you to love all over her; especially her lovely velvety ears and her cute white toes on her back feet! She was just spayed on 4/8/16 so she's a little sore but has been able to make it up and down the steps to go outside without any problems. Midnite has barked to go outside and came back in without hesitation. She has explored the backyard and left her mark this morning. Introductions with the 4 foster siblings went well yesterday and there were no issues. Reese has become her favorite canine foster sibling. Midnite will look for Reese and follow her around the backyard. She's not allowed to play yet due to her recent spay but has followed Reese onto the pool cover! Midnite crates well and walks well on leash once she gets started. Right now she's a little reserved on eating her food but this could be due to her surgery. Midnite is in Lynchburg in her foster home and is available for adoption. She is good with other dogs. No cat or kid history.. Midnite comes from the country (suburbs) and has no exposure to big cities. Placement is limited to single family stand-alone homes in a suburban neighborhood, or rural area. Midnite is approved for kids ages 10+.

Update: Moments by Midnite: Foster Friday
WANTED!!!!
I'm looking for a loving and patient family who is looking for an amazing 4 year old 50 pound girl with soft ears who loves butt scritches, has the cutest white markings on her back paws and has a slight under bite. Foster Mom says that they are all "so cute"! It's just who I am!
I came in as a very scared stray who was Heartworm positive. But my new forever family will not have to handle the rest period because I've already been treated! I'm approved for children 10 and up (and I do love Brenden who is 10), unknown with cats (I'm told that when I first came in to the Lab Rescue vet I didn't pay attention to the kitties there), VERY food motivated, crate trained, house trained, love to run around in the fenced in back yard with my foster siblings, love barking at squirrels, love butt scritches, ear rubs and starting to enjoy belly rubs. I don't jump on the furniture and really enjoy my space in my crate.
I can not tell a lie. I am a shoe and stuffed animal thief. I quietly go into my foster parent's room and Foster Dad just happens to leave out his slippers, Crocs or tennis shoes. I first look around to survey the lay of the land. Then, I quietedly and carefully pick up a shoe and quickly walk, not run, back to my crate where I hoard it. I do the same in Brenden's room but he has some soft stuffed animals (I especially like the blue cow or the frog beanie baby). I bet a lot of you are thinking that I tear them up. I don't. I just hoard them. I do have my "baby" which is a blue squeaky dog that I have had for over 3 weeks now. That still looks good too. Foster Mom fusses at Reese when she gets it (I don't mind sharing) because she will "kill" the squeakers. When my "baby" is handed back to me, I gently put it back in my crate.
Foster Mom says I'm adorable and that I'm a different dog from the one they picked up. Foster Mom says that it's amazing that they had to put me in the crate, shut the door after putting my food dish in, walk out of the den and I would wait at least 5 minutes before I would eat alone. Now, I'm excited to see them prep the food and I run to my crate (door open) and start eating right away. I don't care who is there! I'm also the first in line to gently takes treats from their hands. If you would love to help me to continue to transform, call your AC to come visit me in Lynchburg!
Love,
Midnite
PS: I've been known to give sweet soft kisses too!

Update: Moments by Midnite: FOSTER FRIDAY
Foster Mom is shocked that no one has snatched me up yet. She says I am a love and people don't know what they are missing. I have to admit that I'm not the same dog that first came here. I'm a stuffed animal and shoe thief. I don't destroy them but I like to hoard them in my crate. Foster Dad leaves me several types of shoes to choose from but I think my favorite is his work Crocs. Of course Brenden has a ton of stuff animals that I steal....I mean borrow. I'm a healthy girl that 4 years old, weighs around 50 pounds, unknown with cats, gets along well with others and approved for kids 10 and up. I'll put out the alarm when I hear a noise or when new people come visit. It only takes me a minute or two before I'm checking out the new people now. Before, I used to hide in my crate and bark. I love ear scratches and butt scratches and I'm learning to like some belly rubs too. I get excited to see the food bowl coming now and really do love treats. Lynchburg isn't that far of a drive and Foster Mom has been told by many that it is a beautiful drive. Call your AC to make me your beautiful, sweet long eared girl.
Love,
Midnite

Update: Moments by Midnite:
Foster Mom, what did you say? No one has called? I can't figure out why. Have you told them I'm 4 years old, weigh around 50 pounds, my heartworm treatment is done and that I get along with most dogs? Did you tell them that I'm a great alarm system, that I'm sweet, food motivated, crate trained, house trained and travel well in the car? Did you tell them that I'm good on leash and a good eater? Did you tell them I love Brenden who's 10, that I don't jump on furniture, that I love being outside and I'm healthy? Did you tell them that I love my long beautiful ears rubbed, that I have the cutest white markings toes on my back paws and that I've made so much progress? She said yes to all of my questions! I know I need some more work but I was a stray and I have started to trust people.
If you are my forever family, call your AC!
Love,
Midnite

WANTED! I'm looking for my forever family. I've been in my foster home for awhile and I have overcome a lot of my scaredness. I've gone through my heartworm treatment and I've been told that my profile now says "Treated by Lab Rescue" instead of "Positive". I'm completely healthy and I love running around in the fenced in back yard. I haven't jumped into the pool but I'm curious about the frogs that visit the pool.
So, just to remind you about me. I was a stray so they think I'm around 4 years old and I weigh around 50 pounds. I was also Lyme positive but have been treated as well. My hookworm, whipworm and tapeworms have been treated. I'm not scared of storms and don't attack the vacuum cleaner. I will mooch because I'm food motivated. I'm good on the car and do ok on the leash. I have the softest of ears and cute white on my back paws. I have great hearing because I let my foster family know about noises. Foster Mom says I'm just perfect. She also said they are not going anywhere for the holiday.
I'll be waiting in Lynchburg so call your AC!
Love,
Midnite

Update: Moments by Midnite:
The gang just went outside to do the Neighborhood Barking Watch patrol and I'm stuck in the office doing the paperwork! Come on the 19th! That's the day that I'm allowed to go outside with everyone because I will be done with my heartworm treatment. Foster Mom says I'm doing really well but she knows that I want to play. I'm just not allowed.
FYI: I'm available for adoption. I'm a 4 year old girl that weighs around 50 pounds. I was a stray but I'm learning how to trust some people. I'm house trained and crate trained. I'm getting better on the leash but I don't like doing my business while on it. I get along good with the other dogs here and I've learned meal time is a great thing. I go into my crate and anxiously await its arrival. This is a big improvement brcause I used to wait until everyone left so I could eat. I can be a little pushy about treats but Foster Mom makes me wait my turn. I'm actually walking up to FM for attention and to get loved on. If you think you might want to love me as your own, call your AC to come visit me in Lynchburg.
Love,
Midnite

Update: Moments by Midnite:
Hi everyone! Ok, what family out there might have potato chips or cheesy poofs for me? Foster Mom says I'm a junk food junkie. My foster family made burgers on the grill for dinner tonight. Most people would think I would want the burger. Nope...as soon as that potato chip bag was opened I was there smiling and wagging my tail! They were Lay's and you know you just can't eat just one!
I'm also feeling much better. Along with the heartworm treatment, it seems I got a little intestinal bug. I've enjoyed the chicken and rice but I'm happier feeling better and can't toy see it in my face? Now, the time just needs to pass because this 4 year old girl wants to run and play.
I am available for adoption as long as you're willing to let me finish up my heartworm crate time. Since I'm a little bit of a timid girl, this can give us bonding time. Interested, call your AC and make me your girl! I'll let you rub my long ears and give me chin scruffies!
Love,
Midnite (aka Middy)

Update:: Moments by Midnite:
Hi everyone. I'm doing well and starting into my 2nd week after getting my heartworm injections. Foster Mom and Dad are being really careful with me and keeping me crated. I really want to run and play but I've been told that's not allowed. Foster Mom says I've had my 7 days that I wouldn't be available so now I'm back looking for my forever home and family.
So, I'm 4 years old, a bit of a timid girl, have the most lovely soft ears and I'm looking forward to being Heartworm free. I love playing with the gang here, barking in the backyard with the Neighborhood Barking Watch and being outside. I can't wait until I'm cleared to do that again! I have to admit I'm doing better on the leash. It's still not a favorite thing of mine and I will not go potty for Foster Mom and Dad while on leash so a neighbor loaned them a small pen that I'm allowed potty space. This was vet approved. They don't think I know but they watch me. As soon as I'm done they are there with the leash to take me back inside. I have been allowed to walk around the den but as soon as they even think I'm going to play, off to the crate I go!
If your interested in making me your girl, call your AC to find out more about me.
Love,
Midnite aka Middy
PS: I'm very treat oriented!

Update: Moments by Midnite: (Foster Friday)
Hi everyone in Lab Rescue FB land. I'm Midnite. I'm looking for my forever family that wants a 4 year old little girl. I'm on the timid side but I've come a long way since being in my foster home. I come running when I'm called and I enjoy being inside. Foster Mom can love on me now and I really like ear skritches and chin scruffies. I'm getting used to belly rubs but I'm not quite sold on the concept yet. I love playing with the resident dogs and protecting the yard from those pesky squirrels. I'm a full fledged member of the Neighborhood Barking Watch and I take my job seriously. I've been told that I will have some time off because I'm getting ready to have my heartworm treatment next week and that's 30 days of crate rest. That's OK because I like my crate. I'm not so sure about the leash walking to go potty thing but I understand that's goes along with the treatment and there's no leeway to these rules. Foster Mom says it will be ok and that she will love on me. She also promised special treats like beef kidney and cheesy poofs. Oh, I have learned how to be with the group to get treats too. Today I got to experience the big bed that FM and FD sleep on. It was nice but I wasn't quite sure about it. I'm available for adoption so call your AC to come visit me in Lynchburg.
Love,
Midnite aka Middy

Update: Moments by Midnite:
My foster mom said I needed to make an appearance since we've been so busy with Suzie. I've been really good with everything going on. I come over and check on Foster Mom to see if she is OK and I'm respectful to Suzie while she is healing. I love playing with Reese, Jackson and Neo in the back yard. Jackson can sometimes be a little much so I'm happy to come inside. Now a little about me...I'm around 4 years old and weigh around 50 pounds. I have the cutest white paws and soft long ears. I'm a little timid but time is helping me with that. I'm house trained and crate trained. I definitely have an alarm bark that stands out in the Neighborhood Barking Watch. If I sound like I might be a match for you, call your AC to come meet me in Lynchburg. Please don't be upset if I don't get you with open arms. I'm still getting used to people.
Love,
Midnite

Update:: Moments by Midnite: (Foster Friday)
Good morning! Thought I would say Hello to everyone in Lab Rescue World. I need your help. I'm looking for my forever family. I'm 4 years old and weigh around 50 pounds. I was a stray so I'm unsure of people. I'm getting better and yesterday I even walked up to Foster Mom to get loved on. (She really does love rubbing my ears.) I'm trying to figure out if I like this thing she calls "loving". I think I do but you know, the jury is still out. I do love getting treats and I'll join the rest of the gang; especially cheezy poofs. I'm enjoying running and playing in the backyard too. Sometimes Jackson can be a little crazy but I can out run him. The little bugger nips at my feet though. I will come inside when that happens. I'm crate trained and house trained. I'm good with dogs and unknown with cats. Now, my forever family needs to be kind and patient. Foster Mom says folks like this exist because other labs like me have found their special someone/s. If you're mine, call your AC to come visit me in Lynchburg.
Love,
Midnite

Update:: Moments by Midnite:
Hi everyone. Midnite here. I'm doing well in Lynchburg. I had a few yucky days after my spay but that boiled burger and rice has helped my tummy alot. I like being inside because the construction noise behind us sort of scares me. I'm from the country and these neighborhood noises are different. It helps having the gang outside; especially Reese. She's my favorite (you know we are the same age) followed by Suzie. Foster Mom says I get braver each day and this morning I went outside without hesitation.
So a little about me since I'm available for adoption. I'm 4 years old and was a stray brought in to a rural shelter. I weigh around 50 pounds and I'm a smaller type girl. I have long, soft velvety ears that my Foster Mom loves to rub and I'm ok with that! I'm a little unsure about this people thing because I've had to take care of myself. I am heartworm and Lyme positive but I'm being treated for it. I'm Annaplamosis and Ehrlichia negative. I'm going to need a family that is patient and will let me gain my confidence. I'm already walking around my foster home and taking treats from Foster Mom's hands. I let her pet me and it feels good. I sleep well in the crate and once I get going, I'm good on leash. As I don't have any kid history that I'm telling, I'm approved for Kids 10 and up. I'm also unknown with cats but great with other dogs. Call your AC to come visit me in Lynchburg.
