Newman is your typical macaw, has her moments and if she likes you, she loves you, if she doesn't like you, well you must die ;) She is more of a one person bird and would be perfect for an only bird home or the only large bird in the home. Newman was in a single home all her life, she has always picked at her crop, but its never gone beyond that habit.
She lived with two men all her life and does show a preference for the guys, but has been polite with women. She is not a candidate for a family with younger kids.
The Adoption Process: Fill out our online adoption application which can be found on our website, www.ahelpingwing.org (no phone calls please). A representative from A Helping Wing will be in touch to answer all questions and discuss setting up a first visit. Multiple visits are required before adoption. Although there is no application fee, there is an adoption fee, which covers food, medical care, etc., and allows us to continue our efforts in rescuing, caring for, and finding homes for all of our birds. All birds at AHW have been vetted and have negative tests for any disease before they are made available for adoption!

Your message has been sent to A Helping Wing Parrot Rescue and Sanctuary.
You'll receive a copy, too, at to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures, on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
