My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roscoe came to us from a local shelter where he was turned in by his owner. We know little about Roscoe's past except that his owner did not feel he was good with children. We do not know the circumstances that lead his previous owner to make that decision but we must respect it. Therefore, we are looking for a family with children 14 and older or no children at all.

Roscoe was on the county euthanasia list because he was scared and stand-offish to kennel staff. He gave them a low growl to let them know he just wasn't sure why he was there and what was about to happen. When I went in to meet Roscoe, I sat outside his kennel and talked to him in a nice, calm voice. He slowly came up to the door to take some treats and get his nose scratched. When I entered his kennel, he ran to the back; eventually he came up to me and before long he was snuggled under my arm.

Roscoe is a very loving and intelligent boy. He bonds with his human very quickly and aims to please. If it was up to Roscoe, I think he would prefer to live in a home where he was the only dog receiving his person's attention. He is not aggressive toward other dogs and does like to play; however, he will scold another dog if he feels they are in his human's "space" and making them uncomfortable. Roscoe is one of those dogs that would like to go with you to visit your friend and his dog; but, he wants to come home with YOU! I don't think that's a bad trait. Do you?

Roscoe is kennel trained and house broken. He is fully vaccinated, neutered and tested negative for heartworm, tick & Lyme disease.
