My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sonny is such a cutie-pie! This sweet young pup was on the adoption floor at Contra Costa County Shelter when his time was running out. No thanks to the massive number of dogs in the shelter system, space is very limited. The dogs don't always get the extensions they use to because the shelters just don't have the space. They need the kennels to house the new dogs coming through (this is why we tell folks not to take their dogs to the shelter, if you must get rid of your pet, re-home yourselves). In Sonny's case, he did fantastic on his evaluation. He scored a "B" on his behavior testing and for those of you who don't know how amazing that is, it is almost impossible at most shelters. Just to give you an idea, possibly 1 out of 25-30 dogs pass the temperament evaluation, let alone with such high marks. But sadly Sonny's high score wasn't enough to keep him alive. He was at the shelter for too long and the stress began to wear him down, much like it does to all dogs. How can anyone allow a 9 month old pup, with such an awesome personality, miss out on his chance to have a loving home all his own? Then we hit the jackpot! A new foster stepped up kust in time, and welcomed Sonny into their home. His future was looking bright again! PCS arranged transport and got him out of there the very same day :) Sonny is a smaller pit mix, probably only about 40 pounds. He is fully crate trained and just loves other dogs. We are convinced someone loved him at some point based on how affectionate he is OR he could just be starving for that love and attention (which he gets plenty of these days!). Sonny is in foster care with two large dogs and a 9 year old boy as well. He walks great on leash and he is learning his basic obedience cues (knows "sit" and "stay") and they continue to work on his good manners. He is all puppy-love and just adorable! He will wiggle his butt right into your heart and shower you with kisses. This loving boy wants a family to call his own, will you be his happy ending???

01/20/2016 UPDATE: Like most adorable puppies, Sonny likes to play with toys as much as he likes to cuddle up. Whether he cuddles up with humans or other dogs, all that matters for Sonny is to share that loving warmth with his companion(s)" if you are interested in meeting Sonny please go to www.pitcrew.org for an application.
