Did you know that most red heads have freckles? Check his out! He is true red head! Lucky is around 3 to 5 years of age and weighs around 23 lbs. He is a big boy and all muscle. A total meat head, I swear this boy lifts weights. He's HUGE!!!! He is laid back and pretty much a couch potato. His hobbies are cuddling, eating, napping, being a sleeping partner and did I mention cuddling? He loves to cuddle. He likes to talk about his day and loves to listen to his human talk. Lucky had a rough start in life. We believe he has lived the beginning of his life on the streets. He is FIV positive (but he can still live a normal life and can live with other cats that are fixed) and he had entropion, which means his eye lashes were curled into his eyes. He had surgery to correct it and he can see fine now, but his tear ducts are clogged so his eyes water and will need mild up keep twice a day to keep his face clean. Lucky gets along with other cats and dogs of any size.  This big boy would love to have a furever home where he can cuddle and love on his human!

About Second Chance Pets

About Our Rescue Group...

Second Chance Pets (SCP) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 animal welfare organization dedicated to providing unwanted pets a second chance through foster care and pet adoption programs, educating the public about proper care for their own animals and about animal welfare issues, and working with the public, other rescue groups, and public officials to help resolve the problem of animal overpopulation.

Come Meet Our Pets...

SCP does not have a shelter or an office location. The rescued pets, volunteers, fosters, and adopters who comprise SCP come from all over the Galveston Bay area (mainly north Galveston and south Harris counties). Most animals are fostered and loved in volunteer homes until a permanent home is found.

SCP has cats and dogs available for adoption every Saturday at the Petco store at Bay Area Boulevard and Space Center Boulevard. A few cats may be seen during the week at the Petco location

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete applications so that volunteers can help adopters identify cats and dogs that will fit best in their homes. SCP volunteers review the applications and discuss pet care responsibilities with potential adopters. The adoption donation typically starts at $95 for cats and $125 for dogs.

SCP tries to ensure that all pets are healthy at the time of adoption. All are examined by veterinarians when they enter the program. All are vaccinated, spayed, neutered, de-wormed, tested/treated for parasites and disease (such as heartworms, fleas, leukemia and FIV) as needed. Cats are vaccinated for FVRCP-C and FeLV. Dogs are vaccinated for DHLPP and Corona virus. Animals are kept in foster homes when available to minimize exposure to disease and to help them be well-adjusted. It is the policy of SCP that no cat or dog may be sent to a permanent home before it is fully vetted, including spay or neuter. All of our rescued animals are microchipped.
