Meet Darcey! A unique looking- pup with a unique story! She is a 2 year old Cattle Dog mix who was rescued from terrible situation. She was seized with dozens of other dogs from a hoarding cruelty case back in January.
Despite the fact that Darcey’s past may not have been picture perfect, she is the sweetest, most patient pup. She is not overly affectionate, but she has become her foster mom’s shadow and loves to be in the same room her foster mom is in. She’s calm and content, and loves getting her head and ears rubbed—she’ll place her chin on your knee or lick our foot if she’s not ready for you to be done petting her. She’s learning more everyday what it means to be a pet in a loving home!
Darcey is house broken and does great on a leash! She even follows at your heal when she goes on walks. She is crate trained as well, and happily hangs out in her crate during the day while her foster mom is at work. She is working on other basic commands, and is still learning what “playtime” means – but she is coming out of her shell and wagging her tail, especially when she hears her foster brother’s squeaky toy! She plays well with other dogs as well, and is patient with pesky ones! And what about cats? Well Darcey does very well with the kitties as well. She doesn't bother them, and isn't phased by a little hissing. She has even mingled with a guinea pig!
Darcey is still a little timid due to her past, and will need to be in a home that is willing to be patient until they can earn her trust. She may not be the most trusting of humans, but she is a kind and gentle soul with a wonderful demeanor. And despite her lack of socialization in the past, she is very smart and attentive and does not act out.
This sweet girl deserves a happy ever after – do you want to be the one to make that happen for her?
