It’s a good thing cats have nine lives because Frijoles was found in the middle of traffic and could have been hit by a car. Instead, this lucky little lady found her way to Heartland along with her six kittens. The kittens were adopted and now it's Frijoles' turn. Born in 2013, Frijoles is a cool looking calico. Her top coat is black, white and a little orange but her undercoat is all white. As we've gotten to know Frijoles we've learned that she needs to go to a home with an experienced cat owner. Those days on the streets were tough for Frijoles and it takes her some time to warm up and trust people. She can get defensive or reactive when startled, so a quiet home without children or other pets will be best. Once she warms up to you she will be sweet, loving and playful.

About Heartland Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

Heartland Animal Shelter is a no-kill humane 501 c 3 organization dedicated to finding homeless pets forever homes while educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets in order to help with the pet overpopulation problem.

Dr. Herbert Preiser, DVM and founder of Heartland Animal Shelter wanted to make a difference by saving the lives of pets who might otherwise be euthanized because of the over-population of unwanted pets. Dr. Preiser opened Heartland Animal Shelter in October of 2002.

Heartland's vision is to eliminate euthanasia to any adoptable animal. Heartland asks for your support by spreading the word about the importance of why pets should be spayed or neutered in order to prevent overpopulation of cats and dogs. Together we can make a difference!
