Hi Everyone,

My name is Milo.
My story begins sadly but there is always a pot of gold at the End of a Rainbow.
I was abandoned in the Everglades by someone. I had to fend for myself, fight to survive, that's why I have some scars on my face, but hey scars mean that I lived to tell a story and I'm Happy to say I'm here to tell mine.
I was eventually caught and brought to Miami/Dade Animal Services and that was even scarier than being out on my own. You see they are a kill shelter and I watched as dogs were dragged and euthanized, wondering was I next!
Rescuers took pictures of me, sorry they look so bad but that is what I did look like, they posted them on FaceBook pleading for my life but I needed a foster in order to pull me out of the kill shelter but everyone was full!!
My soon to be foster Mommy saw my picture and stepped up to save my life. Everything was arranged to get me out and I was flown, by a very nice man, from West Palm to Ocala, the plane ride was Awesome. There my foster Mommy and her best friend picked me up.
I was smelly, really smelly because I had demodex mange so bad and an ear infection and was so skinny. But they didn't seem to mind at all, I got lots of hugs and kisses when I got off the plane. We went to my new temporary home where I got a nice warm bath and lots of food and cookies!!!
I was on my road to recovery from there on out.
I didn't know anything...I had never learned what it was like to be a real dog!!My Mommy taught me to sit, stay, lay down, sit to eat and yes even how to play catch, we have had so much fun learning and I'm a fast learner and love, love, love to play...I'm actually a big goof ball.
I have over come so much in my 2 yrs here on Earth and I would Love more than Anything in this World to have a Family to call my own...That is my wish & hope...

WILL YOU BE MY NEW FOREVER FAMILY?
Thank you for listening,
Your buddy,
Milo, a Survivor

About The Humane Society of Marion County

About Our Shelter...

The mission of The Humane Society of Marion County is to prevent the cruelty, suffering and over population of animals.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are open to the general public every day except Wednesdays. Our adoption hours are from 10am to 6pm every day except Wednesday. We are at the PetsMart in Ocala every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for adoptions. Please go to our web (www.thehsmc.org) site to see the different events that we are involved through the year.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption fee for dogs is $90.00 and for cats is $55.00. There is an adoption application that must be filled out and approved. Once the application is approved a meet and greet and home visit must be completed before an animal can go home.
