Sage's Story...
This super senior has all the pizzazz of a younger cat with the wisdom that comes with age. Sage came to ACL from our partner veterinary, Norwood Park Animal Hospital, who had gotten her as a stray. After meeting her, we knew we could find her the perfect forever home to live out her golden years! Sage is about 13 years old, but don't let that number fool you - she has plenty of pep in her step! She's affectionate and chatty - she loves to talk and nudge you for your attention, and she's a front paw declaw. Because Sage is a little older, she'd prefer a home with adults or children 12+. She's past the age where crazy kids seem like a fun idea! Sage is a confident cat who is good with other kitties who appreciate her spirit. We are not sure how she'd do with dogs.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sage, a Oak Park Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Oak Park, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Oak Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
