Hi, my name is Hefty. It's a long story, but my momma was rescued about 6 years ago. Her name is Pickles and she was a 12 pound Dachshund/Heeler mix. My daddy is a Pekingese/Shih Tzu. They call me a pe-shiht-weener-heeler!!
I am heartworm negative and have been on preventative. I am 6 years old and I weigh about 35 pounds. I am about 1.5 feet tall and 4' long.
My mom died unexpectedly on January 21st, 2016. The day after that, I watched all my chicken friends, goat friends and my friend Holly the cow leave. Dad told us that he lost the house and the 12 acres, too. It was a lot of change at once. I had 15 dog friends, and they all left except for 6 of us. My parents friend Bri came and got all the last of us. I was so scared that I growled at everyone. I had known Bri for years, but I didn't understand what was happening, so I growled at her too. She calls me a big faker. I growl because I don't understand what happened. I hate cats so I cannot go to any home that has a cat - unfortunately, I was never taught to respect them.
I am a HUGE couch potato. And I mean, HUUUGE. I am housetrained (few accidents, but reprimands well) and love to sleep on the couch all day. While I was in quarantine after I came to my friend's house, I destroyed 3 crates and a chain link fence panel by eating them. I didn't want to be in there, I wanted to be on the couch. She put up cattle and utility panels. They're too hard to eat!! I will also bark incessantly if I am left outside alone. I just want to be in with my people. I do have some bad manners, such as eating the crates and disliking cats, but I am a huge fluff of love.
Bri thinks that maybe I would do a lot better in a house that doesn't have as many other animals as I crave affection and attention, and her house has a lot of animals like my old home.
I do love dog companionship. I growl and try to get the other dogs to do what I want them to do or if they get too close. Bri tells me to stop it and I usually listen to her.
I truly am a love bug and would love nothing more than to find a home with people who will love me with my quirks and all, but a home with NO CATS!!
For the first 4 days here, I slept in the corner of the room on the cold floor. I had a toddler bed, but was too scared with all the change to sleep in it. Now, I sleep snuggled with my friend Bri. I snore a little bit, but that's just because I'm awesome. :)
