This adorable sweet looking girl was rescued after being found alone inside of a storm drain only centimeters away from a heavily traveled road. Initially by the road was where we spotted her which caused us to immediately stop and reverse at which point she disappeared until her little head popped out of the concrete drain as if to say "Hello". Several of our volunteers canvased the area for hours asking neighbors and stopping vehicles to see if anyone knew where she came from or whom she belonged to but were unsuccessful. Taking all law binding steps to try and find her owners again came up empty with no results. Only approximately 6 weeks old this beauty should not be away from her mother for a few more weeks which makes us wonder how in fact she ended up where we found her only days ago. She is safe now being the newest rescue intake at MMFFR and will continue to remain with us until we find her the best forever home and human companion she deserves.
We decided to give her the name "Sapphire" because she sparkles and lights up a room with her presence. Only estimated to be approx 6 weeks old we have her on a milk supplement although she is already drinking water and eating hard food. Upon intake this sweet girl was initially afraid and very lethargic which had us worried to say the least. We noticed her stomach was very extended and bloated but being the weekend we wanted to take her to our rescues vet for examining. Unfortunately our concerns regarding infestation of worms was correct when she vomited and defecated round worms which all puppies have from their moms. Once we de-wormed Sapphire her personality came to life as she was playful, hungry, barking, and loving everyone in the rescue including the cats. Being such a young and innocent girl makes her rescue process much easier as we are able to mold her the proper way for her future companions.
