My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maddie is a 2-4 year-old Poodle-Pekinese mix with a silky soft coat and a fluffy, elegant long tail that wags readily. Especially when the leash comes out to take her for a walk! She loves walks and is good on a leash. She’s not fond of riding in the car so she would not be a good match if you want a riding buddy. Although she is shy at first she warms up very quickly and is a sociable dog. Maddie is ready to be a constant companion in every room of her new home. She will follow you around, curl up at your feet, or even better, take advantage of any opportunity to sit or recline in her human’s lap.

She is great with other dogs, kids, and cats. And she is especially good at giving you a joyful enthusiastic greetings when you come home from wherever you might have been.

Maddie enjoys being brushed which is good as she will need regular brushing and grooming to keep her beautiful coat in good condition. She came to us very thin but is happily eating extra in her foster home to get up to a normal weight. At present she weighs about 8.5 pounds.

In her former life Maddie was trained on puppy pads but is doing well going outside now. She will need some more work getting used to the house training routine. Maddie is a smart dog, loves treats, and is willing to learn. She doesn’t like her crate but will tolerate it. It will be a good idea to crate Maddie in her new home while her humans go out, at least in the beginning. She would also benefit by some training with her new owners, as she does not yet know basic commands.

Maddie is healthy, up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $350. Please submit an application which can be found on our website at www.baystatedogs.com. No phone calls please.
