My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh hi there! My name is Eliza! Nice to meet you, and really anyone. I’m pretty darned friendly, actually. I’m a 3 year old Pomeranian, and I’m about 6 pounds, but look much bigger because of my fluff. Like all of the dogs in NBS Animal rescue, I’m microchipped, up to date on all of shots, have been tested for heartworms (negative!), been dewormed, and am up to date on all my monthlies (flea and HW preventative). As happy as I am now, I have not always led a perfectly charmed life. Like many dogs that are used for breeding, when they did my spay, they found I had “pyometra”, meaning my little uterus was swollen and infected. It’s very dangerous for dogs, and if untreated can be life threatening. It sure is a god thing I went into be spayed, now I’m feeling much better. I’m so glad I don’t have to have puppies anymore, and now I get to learn to BE a puppy! Wahoo!

Of course, I love to wiggle and pounce on your feet, and spin in circles just because...well, who cares? I like to smile! Although I do love cats, kids and other dogs, I do not know how to play with toys at all. My foster mom has given me every toy imaginable, and I really don’t know what to do with them. Other dogs try to play with me too, and I don’t mind them, but I’m not much of a playmate, since that is kind of a foreign concept to me at this point. I will need a home that is willing to keep working with me on that whole "leash walking" thing. I've never been on one before, of it takes me a few seconds to get going. Once I do? Pfft. I wanna kiss everyone I meet, let me at em! Along with that, you might have also guessed that I'm still working on potty training, but am doing MUCH better with a schedule, foster mom says I get a B+, and I'll be an A student with more time). The first time I went in my foster mom’s yard , the grass felt so funny I picked up my feet like I had booties on, it felt so strange! Now, I kind of like it, and I’ll even run and frolic in a fenced in yard! When you have to leave, I’m pretty quiet for the most part in my crate, but if someone knocks or I hear sounds I don’t know, I’ll definitely bark. It isn’t loud, but I do like to let you know I heard something, I'm a gal who can't hold her secrets or my kisses! Aside from all of that, I’m an excellent cuddler. I LOVE to keep laps warm, and will paw to be picked up. More than anything, I like it when people talk quietly and gently to me, then lean in so I can kiss their face. It will talk me a long time to learn how to be a “normal dog”, but if you have the patience, I’ve got a lifetime of silly wiggly joy and kisses for you. Do I sound like the gal for you? P.S. Here are the helpful steps in applying!

1.) Visit www.NBSAnimalRescue.com happy to adopt me. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you, and whatever other pets you have in the home to make sure we all get along. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to do the next steps too. : )

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release info about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your vet). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
