My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CALLIE is a 5 year old spayed yellow female Lab who weighs 76 pounds. Callie is a very sweet and pretty girl. She loves to run around and play on the farm. Callie has been a breeder dog and has lived on a farm since she was a puppy. She has always lived with other dogs. Callie needs to go to a home with another dog.
From transporter- We fell in love with Callie on the way to the vet. She showered us with kisses. She is very sweet, affectionate and was a great passenger in the car. Callie is a very loving girl who greets people with a wagging tail. Her new family will be so lucky to adopt this beautiful girl.
From foster: Callie is a very calm, quiet girl who enjoys observing everything around her. In fact, Callie's favorite way to spend the day is sunning herself in the yard, no matter the weather. She likes to position herself so she can see what's going on in the house and the yard at the same time. Foster dad has taken to working on his laptop by the open door so she can stay outside more often. Callie likes watching the other dogs fetch tennis balls and sticks and finally seems willing to consider joining in. If we toss a ball just for her she will trot after it. Callie doesn't understand about being petted, playing with toys, or operating dog beds yet but her foster family is confident that she will catch on from watching her furry foster sisters. She is great with people coming and going from the house and doesn't jump up or go nuts when someone is at the door. Callie is good on the leash but not really sure what the point is.Callie has no interest in being a breeder dog anymore so we were contacted to see if we could take her. She is approved for kids 10+.

Update: This pretty girl is enjoying chasing down tennis balls and loves to trot around with one in her mouth. She is spending less time lying around and more time visiting and looking to get petted. This week she has even been seen hopping up to lie on the sofa more than in the past. Callie is used to having someone around the house quite a bit and her ideal forever home would be with someone who is home more often than not. Once Callie gets acclimated, she settles right in and makes herself at home. She likes other dogs and did fine with a cat who was visiting. Callie was more interested in the cat's food than the actual cat.

Update:: Callie is really opening up to love and fun as she gets more comfy in her foster home. She insists on sleeping in her foster parents' bed and can be found napping there throughout the day. However, her favorite spot is the backyard, where she can enjoy sunshine and fresh air. Callie is not interested in chasing birds or squirrels but happily watches them come and go. Now that she is healed up from her recent spay, Callie is very happy to trot after tennis balls. After she gets one she prances around like it's a trophy and especially likes it if we chase her around to get it back. She has such a positive attitude and when she is happy she has the best smile. She goes crazy for treats like cooked chicken, cheese or roast beef. This girl is so sweet and fun to be around.

Update: Callie continues to charm everyone she meets with her happy smile. And her tail never stops wagging. She is feeling very perky lately and has a lot of bounce in her step. She was very sweet recently with fellow foster Boz, playing tug of war with him and wrestling on the bed. It took her a few days to warm up to little Boz but they ended up as great buddies by the time he was adopted. She loves her walks and does great on leash and doesn't seem to have prey drive. Because she used to live confined in a rabbit hutch, Callie cannot be crated, but she does fine with the run of the house. However, in new places she needs time to feel safe and sure that she can come and go and not be trapped. She will need a forever family willing to take it slow and spend a lot of time at home with her in the beginning. When she first came to her foster home she parked herself in the yard all day because she was a little afraid to get stuck inside the house. Now that she knows she can come and go as she pleases, she enjoys lounging indoors for much of the day and she has perfect house manners.
