Watson's Story...
Watson and Sherlock are two 4 month old Pointer mix puppies that were stray. They were found lost and emaciated, most likely dumped. They're both amazingly sweet, gentle dogs. They've had their first round of vaccinations, but they'll need additional boosters.

Our adoption fee is $150 for dogs over 16 weeks old. They have had their first vaccinations and they've been dewormed, so they are up to date as of their adoption, but they'll need additional boosters later. We wait until 6 months of age to spay/neuter puppies, because getting them fixed too early can cause more medical problems long term. We we do is called a "provisional adoption" which means you can take the puppy home at 8 weeks, but we don't actually finalize the adoption until they are spayed/neutered later. You can get a free spay/neuter at First Coast No More Homeless Pets, or you're welcome to go to the vet of your choice at your own expense. Once they're spayed/neutered, then we finalize the adoption and everything is official.

If you're interested in adopting one of these puppies and would like to meet them, please submit the Adoption Application from our web site at:

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Watson, a Jacksonville Pointer puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pointer for sale in Jacksonville, or seeking a Pointer puppy from a breeder in Jacksonville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Jacksonville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Jacksonville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pointer breeders who help with Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Jacksonville paves the way for another one to be saved.
