My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Domino came to Midwest BREW from a breeder/hoarder situation where he was one of MANY dogs, and he likely received almost no human contact. As a result, Domino is most comfortable in the company of other dogs and he is extremely shy of people. Domino spent several months in his current foster home before he would allow us to approach him without running away, and it is still rare for Domino to voluntarily make physical contact with us.

At the same time, Domino is actually a very happy and playful boy who LOVES to race in the yard with other dogs. He gets along with even the grumpiest dogs, and he really seems to depend on the more outgoing dogs for leadership and a sense of security (for example, Domino often won’t come in from outside until all the other dogs have come in first). Domino likes to play with stuffy toys and chew bones (usually when he thinks nobody is watching him), but he is still learning which household items are dog toys, so he sometimes shreds papers or chews items that are left on the coffee table. He is an energetic young beagle boy who needs to keep busy; he loves food puzzle toys and treat dispensers, and these are good for building his confidence too.

Domino is more fearful away from home, so his new home should have a physically fenced yard to allow him the security to run and play safely. He especially needs a home with confident dogs who can show him the ropes. Domino will also need continued work on housetraining; however he does not tolerate a crate, so he is used to being left loose in the house.

Domino is a sweet, sweet boy who is looking for a special home who understands that he is still learning to trust people and that it may take considerable time for him to enjoy attention from the humans in his family. If you have this to offer Domino, please let Midwest BREW know, and we will be happy to tell you more about him.
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
