This is a courtesy posting for Friends To The Forlorn Pitbull Rescue.  Luna is living with a foster family in Dallas, GA.  Luna is deaf so she is special needs.  This was posted on 4/17/16.

NAME:  Luna

GENDER:  Female

AGE:  2 Years Old

WEIGHT:  55 Pounds

BREED:  Husky/Lab Mix

PERSONALITY:  Sweet, playful, high energy bi-eyed (1 blue/1 brown) girl

GOOD WITH DOGS?:  Yes (but we think she will do better as an only dog)

Breed: Husky/Lab Mix
Gender: Female
Estimated Date of Birth: April 1, 2014
Size: 55lbs
Location: Dallas, GA

In 2014, a couple asked us for help with Luna. They said they got her from a bad situation where she spent most of her time outside and when she was brought inside, she was beaten and abused for having accidents. We stepped up and offered to vet the dog for this couple and Luna was fully vetted in October 2014. Fast forward to July 2015. The owners contacted us and said Luna was having behavioral issues and one of our volunteers went to their home to evaluate Luna. It turns out, Luna is not behaviorally challenged, and she was just a bored puppy. It was advised that they spend some time with her and maybe take her for a short daily walk. The following month, we got a call from Cherokee County Animal Control that a dog with our microchip was dumped there. Poor Luna. Her owners failed her. As an owner surrender, Luna didn'€™t stand a chance. On top of that, Luna is deaf.

Luna got her freedom ride on August 18th, 2015. Luna is deaf so she cannot hear you when you call her, but she is incredibly smart and has already learned the hand signals for sit, lay down, and come. She is also trained with the help of a vibration collar to get her attention.  Luna does well with other dogs as well as cats.  However, she has had a few small tiffs with other dogs.  We are not sure if they startle her since she can not hear or why this happens.  Since she is deaf she will require some extra work and dedication to training and she needs to form a strong bond with her new family.  She just loves to play and has lots of energy. She is a sweetheart who loves to run and play tug with her rope toys ... those are her favorite! Once she has finished playing for the night, she is happy to snuggle up on the couch and give kisses.

About Husky Pack Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Husky Pack Rescue (HPR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit GA licensed rescue volunteer organization that focuses on saving Siberian Huskies and other working dog breeds in North Georgia. Our goal is to educate the community on the responsibilities of owning one of these incredible animals and to help find them loving, forever homes.

Working with committed volunteers, fosters, local veterinarians, trainers, we are able to rescue and rehabilitate huskies along with other working class breeds that desperately need our help. We properly socialize each dog, provide them with loving foster homes, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes.

HPR serves as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

All dogs brought into our program are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested and/or treated as necessary. We stress the importance of these items to help reduce the overpopulation of our shelters with un-wanted, lost and sick animals.

HPR arranges educational and social events which highlight the attributes and needs huskies throughout the year.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Most Saturdays at the Hiram Petsmart from 11 am - 4 pm.

Our Adoption Process...

These are all the adoptable dogs that we currently have housed at HPR. All dogs have their own unique personalities, quirks and some times special needs. So it is best to call us directly if you are interested in one of our babies. We can then explain the dog you are interested in completely and you can make an informed decision about adoption.
Our adoption fee is $300 and this will cover their spay/neuter, all their shots, heart worm testing, first round of flea medication & heart worm preventative and a micro chip.
